My latest Block of the Month! I am excited to present to you my new quilt ‘A Day in HappyLand’. This will be available as a standalone pattern and also has been designed to run as a Block of the Month. This quilt is so easy to make with simple woven wool applique and stitchery. A little bit quirky and a whole lot of whimsical. There are many images you could use again and again to not only make the quilt, but you could make bags, cushions, pincushions, needle cases, and more!
This quilt uses linen, Japanese taupes and hand-dyed woven wools, and has a finished size of 55"x56".
A Day in HappyLand is one of the most relaxing quilts I have ever made, consisting mainly of wool applique and stitchery. Each month there are at least 6 applique images to create, each being stitched on a natural linen background. These are then stitched down onto a background fabric, giving the illusion of the blocks floating around together.
The techniques are very simple, using fusible web applique and a whip-stitch for the woven wool applique, and mainly backstitch for the stitchery component.
The program runs over 12 months, costing $44/month plus postage which includes the pattern, all hand-dyed woven wool, linen, Japanese taupe and fusible web. (Note – it does not include threads, backing or wadding).
Kits now available. Includes pattern, japanese taupe background fabric, linen applique background, wool packs and heat and bond paper.
We are offering thread packs which contain 8 delicious colours from Valdani for the stitchery component for $49. These threads are colourfast hand-dyed threads and have beautiful variegations to make your work shine! There is also an option for DMC colours which can be used instead if you prefer for $13.60.
There is also a thread pack available for the woven wool applique component which contains 9 Aurifil wool/lana threads for $89. Again, you could use DMC threads as an alternative if you so wish.
Also available is background fabric packs of the blue Japanese yarn dyed fabric. 3 metre fabric pack, blue check. This is the light blue checked fabric used in the background of the HappyLand quilt
